A GREAT UPGRADE
I have been using a GH4 to fill in a third point of view between a pair of DVX200's. With the upgrade to a GH5 I now have a waveform monitor. Great, but has a significant downside for video
I started to enjoy this camera very much, despite that it wouldn't work with my Metabones adapter for Nikon lenses (I only own one Panasonic lens). However, the Metabones incompatablity is nearly a show stopper. But, what was a show stopper was the auto-focus hunting during video record. You can't see the problem until you begin recording. Obviously, this is not acceptable. Unfortunately, I will return the camera until both problems can be resolved. (For Metabones users, Metabones did not reply to two separate emails asking if a solution was in the works for Nikon lenses and the GH5.)

Amazing Camera for Filmmaking
In my opinion the only things holding this camera back from being near perfect are the auto-focus and low light capabilities. The auto-focus isn't an issue because I focus manually most of the time anyway, which is easy to do thanks to the camera's focus peaking. Not exactly magic for stills photographer
Used a GH4 for 3 years and looked forward to its successor. Well, not exactly magic for me. GLASS HALF-EMPTY 1. For high-ISO low-light noise, still (RAW) and FHD-8bit-100M-60p video seem only one stop better than GH4. 4K-8bit-100M-30p video seems two stops better than GH4. Everything you read about focus issues is true
I own a production company and approve all purchases, so when some of the up and coming team here requested this camera we bought it. Continuous Auto Focus Problem
After reading about this camera I couldn't wait to get my order in. I purchased it for documentary work and I'm hugely disappointed with it's poor continuous auto focus. I also own a Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and it has amazing continuous focus and face detection. I'm returning the GH5 to B&H and now I'm back to searching for the right camera for run and gun shooting.

A tidy little powerhouse of a camera
When paired with good glass, the GH5 is an amazingly versatile video camera for pro and enthusiasts. I shoot interviews, food, and lifestyle videos for work, and this camera does not disappoint. My only gripe is that the 10-bit files don't natively import to PremierePro. Not a fault of the camera, but a frustrating issue that requires converting that footage to ProRes before editing.

A video marvel!
I primarily use the GH5 for video and settled on this camera after seeing the great footage and comments from users online. For the price, I believe, you won't get a more flexible, robust video camera. Shoots 4k at 60P, shoots 4K at 4:2:2/10 bit internally. It offers lots of flexibility in terms of customization. I found the menu system and button layout very intuitive. I was shooting video on a Nikon D750 before, and this is so much easier to navigate. Plus, it's got a touch screen! There's a reason why the GH5 is one of the most popular video cameras on the market right now.

Beware some Metabones adapters will cause blackouts
GH5 only works with the Smart Metabones adapter with the microUSB port (for Canon Lenses). With other Metabones adapters without the Smart port( such as mine for Nikon lenses and MFT bodies), the GH5 intermittently blacks out the image, rendering the adapter useless.

Nothing Better for the Price
This camera is by no means perfect for video (what else would anyone purchase it for?) but it is the absolute best you can get anywhere close to this price. Pros: High frame rates, internal stabilization, full sized HDMI, greatly improved image from the 4, higher bit rates and 422 color. Cons: Noise in low light (better than the 4), very noisy at higher ISO (no point going above 1600), watch out for some weird artifacting when combining internal stabilization with lens stabilization and camera movement (note- I'm using an older model Lumix 14-140, so this could be part of the issue).

I got a lemon
It takes good enough pics, but it's sketchy in terms of working and not working. It's bells and whistles, such as focus peaking, works sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, whether it's turned on or not. I'm returning it and the lenses I bought with it. All of which reset the camera settings, when I change lenses. All the lenses were native, Lumix 12-140mm f3.5-5.6, 12-35mm f2.8, 35-100mm f2.8. Improves on it's ground breaking predecessor the GH4
I have used the GH3, GH4 and now the GH5. They are improved/added almost everything you could have asked for in a video camera. No need to cover the specs, I'm sure you already know them. The next level of filmmaking
When I originally learned to use a video camera, it was with one of those bulky, over the shoulder, traditional video cameras. I then switched to using Canon DSLRs because of the sensor size, cost and lens options. From Canon to Panasonic
Used two Canon 70Ds with magic lantern and I'm so happy I made the switch. The speedbooster xl with Rokinon Cine lenses is just magical. Just put an order in for the Sigma 18-35 and 50-100, I've never felt so good behind the camera. Vlog is also worth the purchase, color grading is great especially in 10bit UHD :) oh, did I mention VFR? Yea 180fps is no joke. So good. Will probably buy a third one to dedicate to my ikan EC1.

Fantastic camera for an aspiring and pro filmmaker.
Ok, this camera DOES take still photos but make no mistake: it was made for filmmakers. The amount of features that make a cinematographer feel right at home is difficult to list. Personally I love the FOCUS TRANSITION, DUAL STABILIZATION (if used with a compatible lens), DUAL SD SLOTS (you can backup your footage on second card or keep recording when the first card runs out of space). Worth every single penny
I am a professional content creator and have used the GH4 metabones to canon EF for the last 2 years. I upgraded to the GH5 and decided to use the Lumix 12-35 2.8 ii instead of the EF lenses. I cannot believe this camera! Even for stills... I no longer run to my canon. I can walk into any situation and produce amazing video and stills all handheld. The low light is still not as good as the current Sony's but the GH5 can hold high ISOs and the noise has a film grain look to it which is awesome. A massive improvement over the GH4 I highly recommend this camera to everyone.

Best body I have ever owned.
I had two gh4's before this purchase. I have already sold one gh4 and already purchased a second gh5. This thing is so amazing. I can't telly you enough how much I love this thing. I mainly do video but just did a photo shoot the other day with the 42.5 panasonic 1.2 and wow is all I have to say. 422 10 bit 4k looks great and I'll probably end up getting a third body to be honest.

4K 60fps!
My favorite feature is being able to shoot gradable footage in 4K 60fps. This is the best way to document life with! Awesome for my documentary work, too. The next best feature, for me, is the Dual Image Stabilization. It works extremely well!

I love this camera
So far a real pleasure to shoot with. The menus might be complicated for some, but with some practice they are actually very intuitive. And the video features Panasonic packs on this thing are amazing--display overlays, 10-bit 4:2:2 shooting at 150mbps (with the promise of higher data rates to come), and some lovely in-camera picture profiles. I've extensively used the 5D Mark III and GH4. I keep the 5D for professional photo shooting, but this will be my go-to video camera.

One of the best Dslr out for video!
This is a great camera! I've been using RED for a few years prior to that I was in the Canon Dslr work flow. This is my first Dslr since then and I'm amazed with images and the picture. It's a must plus 4k at 60fps.
