Super sharp lens
Took this lens paired with my Gh4 to shoot some street footage. Was amazed by the sharpness from corner to corner produced. A must have for any serious indie film maker with a Gh4.

Great All Purpose
This bright, but reasonably priced lens is a terrific all around zoom which serves me in a number of ways. While I have fixed lenses for portraits, when I am in a fixed position and need the flexibility of a zoom lens, this is a terrific piece of equipment. I've always been drawn to Olympus glass because they offer bright lenses and at f/2.8, this is a good workhorse.

Please ! Do not buy this lens for video!!!
New 12-40 with bad zoom vibartions perfection gear. Olympus respone mail :"its a normal, plz buy a lens for filmvideo". .big joke! Apparently this is a disease of the 12 - 40 lenses, Olympus disclaim responsibility. They treat the problem temporarily. A friend had the same problem. Ignore the elegance. The importer cooperates with them. Olympus Disclaimer of responsibility.

A Solid Piece of Pro-Quality Equipment
OK Its big and a little heavy, but you dont get something for nothing. This lens is sharp with very good contrast and very little flair. Being a constant aperture design is in part responsible for the extra heft but having that maximum aperture of f2.8 available at all focal lengths is really good. The build quality is quite robust and the splash resistant construction is a nice feature. This lens is becoming my go to lens and is an item that I can heartily recommend .

Amazing lens!!!
It is extremely sharp. Great for portraits, nature, and product photography. It feels very solid just like all Olympus pro lenses. A must have lens!

Top notch lens.
First rate in every respect; optically, mechanically, and handling. But don't be fooled by the movable focusing ring! If you can afford it, this lens is a no-brainer for any m4/3 shooter.

Excellent Lens
The Olympus 12-40 Pro zoom is an outstanding lens. It's very well made, produces high quality images, and has a useful zoom range. While the lens is compact, it is heavy and may not balance well on smaller bodies.

Truly a PRO lens...
This is my first PRO m4/3 lens and it's nothing short of amazing. I'm a long time Canon shooter who's used to high quality L-series lenses, and I can confidently say that this lens can hang with any L I've ever used. It's amazingly well built, has blazing fast AF, is highly weather sealed, has smooth zoom/focus rings, and is razor sharp wide open. It includes a locking lens hood (nice feature) and a lens bag very similar to the Canon lens bags...... Show More

Extremely satisfied with the excellent sale price.
I am experiencing amazingly new ways to push the envelope with the range of my new M. Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm Pro camera lens.

Great walk around lens
I acquired it with the pen f and couldn't be happier. Decent focusing speed in low light. Images are sharp throughout the range. The zoom range and the size make it ideal for street photography or at any events. This seems petty, but the lens hood quality is sub par given the price range and it's a pro lens?

Fantastic lens!
I really love the Olympus 12-40mm f2.8 PRO lens. I picked it up at an incredible price from B&H and it has proved that it's worth the money. I took it out for sunset at a local wildlife refuge and I was happy with the quality of the photos at 12mm and 14mm, stopped down to f5.6. Really nice. I also took it out to the Chinese Lantern Festival where it performed wonderfully. I got some great and sharp shots of the lanterns at night, handheld. Highl... Show More

New camera, new lens
New camera and new lens, so not a lot to say at this point. Functionally, everything works as advertised. Nicely built. 4 stars only because of lack of adequate experience with camera/lens combo.

Can a zoom really be this good?
I purchased this zoom after 6-1/2 years of using primes on my various m4/3 bodies. I wanted a convenient high-quality lens for my Mexico trip, which I am enjoying as I write this. As I load my images onto my computer, I cannot believe a zoom can be this good. Wow! Fitted to my Pen F with grip, this is as good as it gets for an easy-to-pack travel kit for a demanding photographer. I can already see that my prime lenses (I'm keeping them all) will quickly become speciality items. This 12-40mm f/2.8 is amazing.

Wonderful walk around all-purpose lens
Paired up with my M10ii and it's a beast lens. Sharp pictures with little to no distortion when zoomed in. However, this lens makes this screeching noise that is not loud, but very audible in quiet areas. I've used a different lens (25mm) for testing and found that it is not the camera, but the 12-40 itself. Here's what I've found when trying to determine the problem: - It does not occur from zooming, occurs when I don't zoom - It does not occur ... Show More

Workhorse lens
I have used both the Panasonic 12-35 f/2.8 and the Olympus 12-40 f/2.8. I much prefer the Olympus as it is everything I look for in a quality zoom. I did not care for the Panasonic's feel and build quality and also think the Olympus bests the Panasonic in optical quality. The Olympus has a nice close focusing range and can produce lovely bokeh at times. If I only have space or patience for carrying one lens on my Olympus body, this 12-40 is it.

Excellent lens!
I use this lens a lot of the time on my OM-D EM5 Mark II and love it. It seems to be very sharp and I like that it's an f/2.8 for lower lighting conditions. It zooms very smoothly too, like all of Olympus's PRO zoom lenses.

So Very Good
I recently purchased this lens as an add-on to my order of an Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark II. Having been away from photography for a number of years, I chose to spend the extra money on a PRO series lens. I was quite impressed with the quality of images possible from this lens. As I figure out how to operate the camera, I am certain the lens will produce even better images.

Great all around lens. Built like a tank. My daily lens.
I am a hobby photographer, and enjoy shooting landscapes and portraits of family/friends. I used to shoot a lot more action/motorsports, but have transitions to calmer photography. This lens is paired with my Olympus OMD EM5 mark ii. It is a fantastic all around lens, and although heavy compared to many others, the fixed 2.8 makes it worth it in my opinion. Extremely happy!
I purchased this lens three weeks ago from B&H when it was on sale to use with my E-M10 and take on a European cruise this spring. I shoot landscapes with a FF Nikon setup and am used to shooting with various Nikon lenses, 24-70mm, 60mm micro, 85mm F1.8, 50mm F1.8, etc. I mainly use the micro 4/3's system for family events, but after shooting for three weeks with this lens i doubt the 24-70 will get much use in the future! Excellent Lens + Extremely Sharp
At first, I didn't believe that I would put down this much money for this lens since I'm not a professional photographer. However, after using the Olympus 14-42mm kit lens for a while, I was not satisfied with the clarity of my photographs (and the lens overall). Honestly, I wish I bought this lens with my camera body much earlier. It has an amazing metal construction build, the glass is extremely clear and high quality, the zoom range is very us... Show More
