Poorest cooling solution with such a heavy weight.
the computer doesn't have a good cooling solution, the item thermal throttles to 90c idle, every time opening a software the laptop will turbo and throttles to 100c, the fan noise gets super loud too. When playing game or doing any task this laptop just heats up really fast, the keyboard feels very hot after one game in dead by daylight with graphics on low. Powerful but Overheated
I just got my order afew days ago, its a really nice device with super powerful specs. The 256gb SSD actually is a Samsung PCIESSD, the read and write speed match the same size Samsung 970 EVO. And the actual RAM speed is 2666, not 2400. Great, right? The only problem is the heat. Save yourself the trouble....
I own the 15 R4 and while not the same they are Dell supported the same and built in the same place by the same people. I've owned mine for 10 months now, with two service calls and repeated fails to start, I'm concerned about the future of my $2300 current paperweight. Still too hot
2nd review after testing. GPU temperature is OK, regardless of load. The CPU is still hovering about 90+ and it feels really hot on the underside and back. keyboard is fine and fans are blowing full blast all the time. Am disappointed that there are only 2 RAM slots limiting the memory to only 32gb instead of 64gb. Also has only 2 pcie m.2 slots, limiting the storage to only 4tb. with such a huge chassis, Dell could do better to at least slot in 4 memory slots & 4 pcie m.2 slots. awaiting to hear more reviews on LM repaste of the CPU. Burned out right at 13 months... Convenient for Dell
Great gaming platform with a solid graphics card, great RAM, excellent SSD but, it is clearly packed into a case that cannot handle the heat without literally overheating to a point of smoke pouring out of the top of the keyboard - requiring expensive repairs. I own multiple Alienware products but, buying the gaming laptop was clearly a mistake. Stick with a desktop if you are considering packing a robust graphics card into a small space with insufficient air circulation.

Amazing laptop
I have to travel between three countries every year, and, therefore, cannot have a PC setup. However, this behemoth became a marvelous replacement for one. Though not very portable (almost 5 kg, what do you want), it is a great laptop that is able run every game Ive tried so faron ultra graphics with 60+ FPS. Alienware 17 R5 is more of a portable PC than a laptop, and this is exactly what I need.

Just as Advertised
This Alienware 17 R5 (Dell) is exactly as advertised, great CPU, great GPU, great chassis and awesome display. All around great product and ordering experience. Ordering such an expensive gaming laptop online had me worried, but the entire experience was handled nicely. Good price, shipping was on time, all around great experience. I recommend the product and the service.

AMAZING
B&H was super fast with my laptop!! I got it within 24 HOURS!! Its amazing, and works incredibly fast!! Only issue I have is the battery life doesnt last very long, but that's what you get with a powerful gaming laptop. This laptop is also awesome for editing with Photoshop!! Thank you B&H!!

99 Degrees Celsius!!!
Great laptop but it boils at +- 100 degrees celsius when on normal load. Dont understand why Dell doesnt use decent CPU paste from the onset. Didnt want to do a repaste and reviews say undervolting will help. The AW R5 is probably good only in winter areas, not in the tropics...

Worst laptop ever
Had to re-install windows 4 times in 3 months, the laptop does not work well with Windows 10... Graphics card stutters/freezes on easiest games. Overheats easily, gets loud. Very unhappy with the purchase. Will NEVER ever touch Dell brand again.

DEAD PIXEL
That pretty much sums up the only bad thing about my laptop. I've had it for a little less than a month now and performance wise it works as expected. Just you don't expect to have a dead pixel on your brand new over $2k laptop screen.

Top 10 in the market
The cost and the gaming performance relation of the laptop is awesome. No need to think. Just a small heat issue in flight simulators with high-end settings, however some specific heat sucking coolers save the day

Fast!!!
This computer is fast and has plenty of memory to support all the applications I run on it. Personalization of keyboard and outside is a nice touch and a plus for low level lighting.
